Playbox began long before we signed a lease or designed our role play town.

Like many parents, we spent countless hours at baby classes, playgroups and local activities. Aga first met Danielle at a Baby Sensory class, while Momo joined the story later through a local forest school attended by all of our children. At the time, we were simply parents navigating life with young families and looking for places where we could enjoy spending time together with our children.

The idea for Playbox started after organising a birthday party at a role play café. It sparked a question: why wasn't there a space like this closer to home? A place where children could immerse themselves in imaginative play while parents could enjoy a good coffee, meet friends and feel comfortable staying for a while.

What started as a passing idea quickly gained momentum. Danielle's husband immediately saw the potential, and around the same time Momo happened to message with a suggestion for a local space she thought would be perfect. As it turned out, Aga had already been thinking about inviting her to join the project. Looking back, it all feels a little serendipitous.

What connected us was a shared belief that local families needed more places to gather, connect and play. By then, we were all raising our second children and understood firsthand how valuable welcoming family spaces can be.

We chose Enfield because it is the community where our own families live, learn and grow. We wanted to create something local families could be proud of – somewhere children could explore independently, celebrate special occasions and make lasting memories, while parents could relax and enjoy being there too.

Today, Playbox is the result of that shared vision. A place created by parents, for parents, where imagination, connection and community come together every day.
